If I update my system tomorrow, I can reinstall it and use it without emailing one person to obey a new key to get it work.
Take for example Windows 64 bit ultimate, you can buy with a serial number without to have to activate it on the internet.
I pay for it and I want in control of it anytime. If I buy for that amount of money a software package then I will have the freedom to use anytime where I want and how I want. If they need money, they will find new ways to get more money from your pockets… why the price on 1 st of February last year increased else with 50%!!!! You have now to pay for the Project Magenta AIRAC updates, in the beginning it was for free. FSUIPC started also as freeware and is now very commercial orientated. Who guarantees you as builder that they will not start to charge money for updating your keys or other updates. But when the PM guys suddenly decide next week to stop with everything… because they are too busy with other things which is more profitable for them, they get declared bankrupt or some other stupid reasons… Then is your investment of 1996 EURO suddenly NOTHING worth anymore! It will run on your systems so long you don’t change anything, one hard disk failure and you out of running… I update my systems each 2 to 3 months, think they will get good sick of me then after a few times… They have a good service no doubt about that, just check their forums and you can read it. To run Project Magenta you need to obey a key from the developer to run it on your computer, if you change a hard disk, then you have to email them to get a new key. I have for example FSX installed on my main system and my laptop… with PM is that impossible…
Even with the Microsoft Flightsimulator you get it in a box and you can install it on several systems… without contacting one single person for a stupid key… even after 10 years of time. Whatever you do with it, it is your concern. Okay to building the cockpit cost you as builder also money, it can easy go above the 10.000 euro’s (I do for the half of it!)… but the big difference thing between investing money into your cockpit and Project Magenta, is you can hold it, you in control of it anytime, you have paid for it and it’s your full property. 399 euro (4) PM Systems for the overhead, etc… 399 euro… that is a total price of 1996 EURO!!! Oh sure it is a great piece of software that glues your cockpit together and let everything work… but to pay around 2000 EURO for a complete flightdeck, that is absurd… for that same amount I buy these days a high-tech computer system, with FSX and a OS installed… maybe even with some flightsticks and other software…įor example you build a full 737 cockpit… (1) Captain side with PFD,ND,FMC & Autopilot… 799 euro (2) First Officers side…. Too continue on my previous posting one of the most too expensive overpriced add-on’s for the flightsimulator is Project Magenta.
